I had an unexpected commission last year — to illustrate the labels for a special Houston Astros ice cream! The limited edition Astros flavor just debuted in Houston area H-E-B Grocery stores, during the year of their World Series win.
The Creamy Creations peanut brittle ice cream celebrates the fans of the Houston Astros, and a portion of each sale will benefit youth baseball and softball through the Astros Foundation.
I’m a lifelong rookie, and reside in rival territory (sorry, Dodgers!), so I’m truly thankful H-E-B was willing to give me a chance at bat for this one! It was a lot of fun to familiarize myself with Minute Maid Park and explore the colorful and expressive Astros fan culture and apparel.
