Happy to see my client experience unprecedented demand for our illustrations! Vacation Bible School season is beginning for the summer, and Regular Baptist Press has been selling out of the painted theme decor we produced for this year’s theme, Junkyard Redemption.
As kids learn how God remakes our broken world, they will also experience the junkyard theme through a unique storyline and characters told in a classic children’s book style. I produced a whole series of large-scale banners, posters, and life-size cardboard cutouts, in collaboration with illustrator Manuel Gutierrez who provided initial sketches. Each piece was filled with creative, surprising, and sometimes silly details supporting a touching story and a meaningful theme about redemption.

Churches have eagerly embraced the Junkyard Redemption theme, decorating with real junk, antiques, and knick-knacks, with our large painted banners as the central backdrop. In response to the shortages, it’s encouraging to see churches coordinate on social media to share resources after their Vacation Bible School week has completed.
May it be a meaningful and memorable week for kids this summer! Kudos to Regular Baptist Press for seeing the potential in such a redemptive and creatively-inspiring theme!
